Wireless IP Phone

Wow! Telephones and the technology behind delivering calls has changed so much over the years. No longer are we tied to choosing between a land line at our home or office, or a cell phone. We now have what is called VOIP – or voice over IP. This simply means the calls are carried over an internet connection.

Wireless IP Phone – Low Cost Advantages

One of the great things about VOIP is the cost. Many services charge a nominal monthly fee and offer unlimited word wide calling! For example, I pay Skype $10 a quarter and can make and receive all the calls I want. A GREAT deal! Try doing that with land line or cell phone!

Another great thing about VOIP is that it comes with plenty of features that enhance and enliven your communication experience.

Using VOIP in the past has meant that you’ve had to either use a telephone or headset that was connected to your computer. Not anymore! There are phone available now that work as long as you have access to a wireless network. The wireless ip phone can be used anywhere they are within range of an unsecured wireless network – or secured if you have the WEP code. Once again, the big benefit here is the cost situation. If you can access the network, you can call for virtually nothing. Of course the downside for these phone is that you need to be able to access a network. As time goes on, there will likely be more and more wireless networks you can access – with many in public places. As it is now, there are many businesses – such as McDonald’s locations around the US – that provide hot spots where these phones will work nicely.

Another downside to these phones can be the voice quality. There are times that the voice quality can be pretty lousy. However, this situation has become better over time and depending on the phone you purchase, you may find that you will have no problems at all.
